Concertmaster: Masaaki TANOKURA 田野倉雅秋

This was the farewell and last concert for prominent Finnish conductor Maestro Inkinen as Chief Conductor for Japan Philharmonic Orchestra (In short “JPO”).

They performed Tapiola (This is an amazing piece!) and Beethoven Choral very emotionally and beautifully, and have done it to perfection. I was moved from the bottom of my heart.

Maestro Inkinen had contributed to JPO and its audience for about 14 years as Guest chief conductor and Chief conductor. During the term, he refined the quality of JPO and made them perform more passionately in a well-organized manner.

One of his outstanding achievements was that he conducted many Finnish pieces and introduced them to the JPO’s audience. Besides, he successfully performed and recorded all 7 symphonies of Finnish composer Sibelius with JPO and released CDs and some streaming services including Spotify and Apple Music (Pls search for “Inkinen Sibelius Japan Philharmonic”). As a huge fan of Sibelius, I really appreciate him.

It was very sad that he left JPO, but happily, he already became the Chief conductor of the KBS Symphony Orchestra in Korea.

So now I want to tell him “Kiitos Paljon!” (Thank you very much in Finnish), See you soon at a concert in Japan, and Bon voyage!!!
